216 New COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria, Total Confirmed Infections Now 6175

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 216 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID19) in the country, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 6175. The latest update by the NCDC, which appeared on its Twitter handle was uploaded at 11:53p.m. on Monday May 18, 2020. The new numbers showed that Lagos State, which is the epicenter of the virus in Nigeria is still leading others states with 74 new cases.

On Monday after the President, Muhammadu Buhari declined to address the nation for the fourth time since the pandemic started thus pushing the buck to the table of the Presidential Task Force On COVID-19 chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Boss Mustapha and his team, the committee announced that the federal government has further extended the eased lockdown by another two weeks beginning from the midnight of Monday May 18 to June 1, 2020.

The update also showed that 1644 patients have so far been treated and discharged while Nigeria has also recorded 191 deaths as a result of COVID-19 complications since the pandemic started in Nigeria with the Italian index case in Lagos.
