Native Doctor, Four Others Arrested Exhuming Human Parts In Enugu Cemetery

By NewsBits

Four persons, one of them a native doctor, have been caught harvesting human parts from tombs inside the Catholic cemetery at Ajaba Mmaku, in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

NewsBits recalls that Agunese Mmaku Autonomous Community is the domain of Igwe Cyprian Nevo-Obasi, the Ogirishi Igboland. The community was in the news recently when some youths in the area stripped a widow, assaulted and dragged her naked to the community square for allegedly picking snails in the sacred forest. But the widow denied the allegation. Igwe Nevo-Obasi condemned the act and called on the authorities to ensure that each of the culprits would be given 50 years jail term to serve as deterrent to others. The suspects have been remanded in the Enugu prison after arraignment.

Back to the report on the suspected ritualists at the community cemetery. It was learnt that they were caught by a man in charge of the bakery section within the Church premises. The suspects were said to have immediately responded by promising to settle the Baker, who agreed for fear of his life.

However, the baker went back to call on the Rev father. But the suspects, on sighting the priest and some people, reportedly took to their heels. The neighbourhood Watch of Mmaku have reportedly been involved in the manhunt of the culprits, some of whom have ran out of the community.

Unconfirmed reports claim that the business of getting human parts for ritual purposes have been on for some time in the area. Those arrested include Aloysius Okeke (aka Aloy Ojoma), Israel Okoli, and Amaechi Udeji, all from Enugu Afam Village in Agunese Mmaku Autonomous Community.
