Buhari Seeks Senate Approval To Replace Mary Uduk With Lamido Yuguda As SEC DG

*Mary Uduk, Acting Director-General of SEC President Buhari wants out


President Muhammadu Buhari, has written the Senate, requesting them to confirm Lamido Yuguda as the new Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This was disclosed today by Ezrel Tabiowo, the Special Assistant on Press to Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan. He said three other nominees were also sent alongside Yuguda by the President for confirmation as Commissioners in SEC. The commission is presently led by Mary Uduk who has been at the commission on acting capacity for about two years.

The names he said include Reginald Karawusa, full-time Commissioner; Ibrahim Boyi, full-time Commissioner; and Obisan Joseph, full-time Commissioner. Tabiowo said the President’s letter read in part, “Pursuant to Section 3 and 5(1) of the Investment and Securities Act 2007, I write to request for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of the following four nominees as Director-General and Commissioners of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Their CVs are attached herewith.” President Buhari’s letter to the Senate, we gathered was read to them during plenary on Tuesday.
