Away from his 70th birthday activities, musician and activist, Charles Oputa better known as Charly Boy has threatened the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma who has not paid pensioners and retires of Imo State since January.

Charly Boy is a known leading voice for the voiceless in the society. He has led all sorts of protests against oppressive government and institutions in the country. He has once confronted the Federal Government in Abuja over the plight of military pensioners when he led a massive protest in Abuja some years back.

Hon. Emeka Ihadioha, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor who was removed from office by Nigeria’s Supreme Court and imposed Uzodimma on Imo State was up to date with payments of pensioners before he left office. Ihedioha also was up to date with the salaries of civil servants who are also owed about four months salaries.

On his verified social media handle, Charly Boy who wrote in a mixture of English language and broken English that, “Send this to the Supreme Court appointed Governor of Imo State. Please pay these our aged fathers/mothers their pension. If I hear say money enter voice mail, na you go take your head carryam. They must receive their pension, latest by month ending if you no want our wahala. Area Fada Charly Boy.”

The pensioners and retirees in Imo State have been protesting the non-payment of their pension/entitlements since Uzodimma assumed office but the Imo State government said they will start the payment as soon as they finalise their verification exercise.

We hear that Charly Boy may have started mobilization for the mother of all protests in Imo State should the Uzodimma government continue to owe these elder citizens after the expiration of the timeline the activist gave the government to commence payment.
