COVID-19: Nigeria’s Total Positive Cases Has Risen To 19,147

As at 11:05p.m. on Friday June 19, 2020, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that Nigeria’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the country have again increased with the additional 667 that was recorded on Friday. The total positive cases has risen to 19,147. From the rising numbers on daily basis, it is obvious that places are opening for business because of the economy and not because it is safe to do so.

NCDC, which is the agency that is leading Nigeria in the fight against the dreaded virus also disclosed that COVID-19 fatalities have risen to 487 in the country. According to the centre, “On the 19th of June 2020, 667 new confirmed cases and 12 deaths were recorded in Nigeria. No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours. Till date, 19,147 cases have been confirmed, 6581 cases have been discharged and 487 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
