Former Sokoto State Governor, Dr, Nadama Dies At 82

Dr. Garba Nadama, the second civilian governor of Sokoto State has passed on at impressive age of 82. The Sokoto state government announced that the death of the elder statesman was natural but, after a brief illness. The late governor holds a Ph.D in History from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU). He served as governor of old Sokoto State who succeeded late Governor Shehu Kangiwa who also died in a polo accident. It would be recalled that Namada left office after the military coup of 1983, which truncated the second republic.

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the incumbent Sokoto governor has commiserated with the family of Nadama and expressed shock and sadness over his demise. According to him, the state government has taken solace in Allah from whom all mankind came and to Whom is their return. He described the former governor as a dedicated statesman and visionary leader whose ideas put the state on a solid foundation.
