Geoffrey Onyeama, Foreign Affairs Minister Tests Positive For COVID-19

Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama

“Did my fourth COVID-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive. That is life! Win some lose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID19 #PTFCOVID19.”

This was how Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, announced to the country that he has tested positive for the rampaging coronavirus pandemic. The minister is a strong member of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 set up by the Nigerian government to lead the fight in curtailing and controlling the spread of the evil virus.

On Saturday July 18, 2020, at 11:23p.m. Nigeria recorded 653 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 36,107. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known through its Twitter handle at the weekend. The update also showed that 14,938 patients have been discharged while 778 have died in the process because of complications from the dreaded virus.

As we speak, the minister hinted that he has headed to a health facility where he would be isolated and treated.
