Good News As Adamawa State Discharges Five COVID-19 Patients Including State’s Index Case

Good news emanating from Adamawa State amidst all the sad Coronavirus (COVID-19) news that are flying all over the place has it that the state’s index COVID-19 case was among the five patients that were on Monday in Yola, the Adamawa State Capital.

Mr. Ahmadu Fintiri, the Adamawa State governor told journalists that his state now has only 12 active COVID-19 cases in its isolation centre with the discharge of the index case and four others. According to the governor, they were discharged to reunite with their families after National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) tests confirmed them negative. He said, “I have the privilege and honour to ask the frontline health workers to discharge the five gentlemen, including the first index case in the state. I congratulate all of you and wish that you integrate with your families and the society without any stigmatization.”

The Good news from Adamawa is coming a day after the NCDC announced another increase in the number of Nigerians that have been infected with the ravaging Coronavirus (COVID-19). According to information on their official Twitter handle, @NCDCgov, which the centre updated at 11:45p.m. on Sunday May 10, it said NCDC recorded 248 new cases from across the country. With the new number, Nigeria now has 4,399 confirmed cases of COVID19 just as 778 of those have been treated and discharged, but 143 people have also died in the process.
