New Priest Escapes Death As Worshipers Reject Mbaka’s Replacement

By NewsBits

A move by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu under the leadership of Bishop Callistus Onaga to remove Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka and replace him with another priest at the Emene Adoration Ministry was vehemently resisted by the worshipers who tried to  mob the new priest on Sunday.

Mbaka himself announced the resumption of Adoration with Church Service Sunday, but the Adoration faithful who flooded the Emene ground to receive their own Mbaka were shocked by the ‘secret’ plot to replace Mbaka with a new priest. The founder of the Adoration Ministry, who was given the difficult task of announcing his replacement could hardly finish the announcement when the crowd suddenly went wild in protest.

The revolt was soon directed at the new priest identified as one Fr. Anthony Amadi, who had to be whisked away as the crowd surged to attack him. As at the time of this report the priest was still taking refuse at the parish house built and occupied by Fr. Mbaka.

Now the worshipers have decided that no other priest would be accepted in the Ministry, and they alleged a serious gang up from certain quarters in the church. The Mbaka challenge has long polarized the Enugu Roman Catholic Diocese and a new trouble is presently imminent as the Adoration faithful threaten violent protests to bring back Mbaka.
