Nigeria’s Positive Cases Of COVID-19 Hits 6401

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday May 19, 2020 at 11:39p.m. said it has recorded 226 new cases of the rampaging Coronavirus (COVID-19) from across 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. With this addition, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 6401 with 1, 734 discharged and 192 fatalities.

From the update, Lagos State still parades the highest number of new cases but, the good news is that Kano State for the first time is not among the states with a new case. Given the rising numbers of COVID-19 infection and the fact that Nigerians have to a large extent flouted the advisories from both the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and the NCDC, the Inspector-General of Police has directed officers and men of the police to effect the movement restriction as well as interstate orders.

The list of the states with new cases as published by the NCDC include:

131-Lagos

25-Ogun

15-Plateau

11-Edo

7-Kaduna
