Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has reportedly put members of the State Executive Council (SEC) on notice of the imminent dissolution of the council and directed them to prepare their handover notes ahead of the dissolution.
The Governor gave the notice at the valedictory council meeting held at the council chambers of the new governor’s office in Bauchi and commended council members, including commissioners and special advisers for contributing to the successes recorded by his administration in the last four years.
While expressing satisfaction with their performances in the respective responsibilities they are saddled with so far, Governor Mohammed hinted that some of them may be reappointed in his second term in office, starting from May 29, 2023.
The governor said, “Even those of you that may be lucky to be reappointed may not go back to the offices you are holding now.”
The Governor then thanked the appointees for working hard in the recent general election, particularly the March 18 governorship election in which he emerged victorious for a second term in office, adding that “I really appreciate your doggedness and resilience even in the face of stern opposition.
“If time permits before the inauguration, the Council may meet again but if not, I appreciate your support and cooperation over these memorable four years of unprecedented service to the people of Bauchi State.”
Governor Mohammed, however, said he has forgiven the council members for any perceived wrongdoings in the course of discharging their official duties and sought their forgiveness for him too.
