As part of the developments marking the just ended Workers Day celebrations in Kano State, the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has abolished the dichotomy between the Bsc. and the Higher National Diploma (HND) holders.
Ganduje made the disclosure at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano when he explained that the decision to abolish the dichotomy was part of his administration’s efforts towards boosting the morale of civil servants in the state. A good number of employers of labour in the country discriminate holders of HND, thus increasing the rising numbers in the unemployment market. Ganduje who also reaffirmed his commitment to paying the N30,000 new minimum wage said his government had concluded arrangements for the implementation of the new wage. He said his administration was working assiduously to enhance workers’ welfare.
Reacting to the cheering news as it were, the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Alhaji Kabiru Minjibir, commended the state government for enhancing workers’ welfare. He also appealed to the state government to pay allowances for workers of state tertiary institutions as applicable to their colleagues in the Federal Civil Service.
