Morocco completely outclassed, outplayed, humiliated and shredded Nigeria at the just concluded football competition in Morocco. It was not the expectation of most Nigerians that the CHAN Super Eagles would go down without a fight especially given the fact that they did well at the group stage of the competition. Given the long list of injuries that befell the team prior to the final as well as the red card that greeted them early in the second half, it was obvious that the team remained under severe attack from the beginning till the end of the game.
From all indications, the home-based Super Eagles also known as CHAN Eagles needs improvement in all departments because the Moroccans were faster, better coordinated, skillful amongst a host of other deficiencies that were evident in the Nigerian team. With what was on display, it was evident that if Nigeria had met Morocco during the group stage of the competition, they would have suffered early exit at the tournament. It is obvious that the team is still work in progress. They need to developed defensive character, ability to confidently calm pressures from teams with the swiftness of the likes of Morocco.
Truth be told, Nigeria was seriously shambolic at the finals because their heavy defeated of 4-0 in the fifth edition of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) finals played on February. 4, 2018 is an indication that the coaching crew needs to get back to the drawing board. But then, they still need our support because they came second at least.
