Abuja: Tinubu Again Absent As Presidential Candidates Sign Peace Pact

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was conspicuously absent on Thursday as the presidential candidates of other political parties were physically present for the signing of the now-customary peace pact ahead of the forthcoming general elections in Abuja.

The peace accord is organised by the National Peace Committee chaired by former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.) and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.

There has been rumours that Tinubu is seriously ailing and may not be fit to run for elections next year, but his camp has been trying so hard to tell the public otherwise. In his place however, Tinubu’s running mate, Mr Kashim Shettima, was present at the signing alongside, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party among a host of others.

No reasons were given for Tinubu’s absence. However, NewsBits gathered that Tinubu may have again travelled to the United Kingdom on medical grounds. This is not the first Bola Ahmed will be absent at critical events that need his attention, he has always been represented by his Vice, a development that is raising all manners of doubts.
