Afenifere Leader Pa Adebanjo Endorses Labour Party’s Peter Obi As Next Nigeria President

Afenifere, leader, the Apex Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has again explained why he and his influential organization, Afenifere, prefers the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi, ahead of the other candidates, to emerge Nigeria’s President in 2023.

The elder statesman said, “It is only Peter Obi that can rule independently without the influence of these criminals in the government.” Adebanjo also said Ndigbo in the Southeast are also Nigerians and should therefore be given a chance to produce Nigeria’s President.

Pa Adebanjo made the statements on Tuesday while reiterating his open endorsement of Labour Party’s Peter Obi as Nigeria’s next President in 2023. He said his position is the same with that of Afenifere’s earlier position that Nigeria’s presidential seat “must return to the Southeast in 2023.”

Adebanjo, who made his position known on Channels TV’s political programmed anchored by Seun Okinbaloye. The elder statesman also confirmed his stance while speaking on Yoruba Gbode, an online radio programme , on Tuesday, adding that Obi was the only one that would not disappoint Nigerians.”

The report also quoted Pa Adebanjo as stating that “he had since lost confidence in Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer, and Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Commenting on Obi, Adebanjo said: “We know Peter Obi very well, that’s why we endorsed him.

“He will not disappoint Nigerians, let’s put tribal differences apart and vote the right leader in. Tinubu sold Buhari to over 200 million Nigerians for his own selfish interest of wanting to rule after Buhari. None of them loves Nigeria.”

On why Ndigbo should also be given a chance to produce a Nigerian President of Southeast extraction, the Yoruba leader said: “Easterners are also Nigerians. They deserve to rule. I am sure Peter Obi will not subject himself to the Northerners like Tinubu and Atiku would do if elected.”
