Buhari Set To Present 2023 Budget Of N19trillion To National Assembly

Reports have it that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari will, on Friday, present to the National Assembly, N19.76 trillion Budget for 2023 financial year.

The President had signed the 2022 Appropriation Bill into law with an aggregate expenditure of N17.127 trillion, an increase of N735.85 billion over the initial executive proposal for a total expenditure of N16.391 trillion on this year’s New Year Eve.

It is also on record that the President laid the 2022 budget proposal before the National Assembly on October 7, 2021. So, when he presents the 2023 budget before the lawmakers this Friday, it would be exactly a year after.

As soon as the lawmakers resumed plenary on Tuesday, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, read Buhari’s letter of request to present the 2023 budget at plenary. The presentation, according to the letter, scheduled to hold 10:00a.m. at the temporary chamber of the House of Representatives due to ongoing renovation works in both chambers.
