At long last, Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari yesterday submitted his list of ministerial nominees to the senate with so many of the previous returning, which was not exciting to Nigerians. The list of the 43 persons Buhari selected was reportedly sent to the senate on Monday evening via executive communication and is expected to be read on the floor of the senate for screening. In what appeared like fast tracking the process given that the senate was to embark on a recess, the senate president has read the full list on the floor of the house.
In a swift reaction, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, said Buhari’s ministerial list was colourless, stagnant, uninspiring and did not convey any sense of hope or purposeful governance.
Ologbondiyan said to the utter disappointment of Nigerians, the list was replete with alleged incompetent individuals who failed in their erstwhile ministerial assignments and allegedly left their ministries in a shambles. According to him, such a ministerial list can only come from a leadership that does not have the mandate of the people.
