Claret Academy Secondary School Area ‘A’ Owerri Marks 2024 Career Day With Launch Of Three Products

Talking of thinking outside of the box to be able to wade through the challenging Nigerian economy rather than sit down and complain like most people, the management and students of Claret Academy Secondary School, Area ‘A’ World Bank, Owerri Imo State on March 9, 2024 launched a number of products that were produced by the students.

The products include the Claret Classic Hand Wash, Dish and Car Wash Liquid Soaps. They were launched as one of the major activities of the school’s maiden Claret Academy Secondary School Career Day. The week-long programme aside from the launching of the products also featured seminar on career choice ably facilitated by some professors from the University of Jos Allumni, Owerri Chapter. They include Prof. B.E.B. Nwoke the former Vice Chancellor of Imo State University (IMSU) Emeritus; Dr. Tony Ekwe the former Deputy Provost and Director Academic Planning, Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education Owerri and Dr. Patrick Opara, Senior Research Officer, Federal University of   Technology Owerri (FUTO)

There was also a live radio discussion on career and its importance by the students at Oziza FM 96.1. The activities also include gender awareness talk that featured Mrs Nnenna Okoro, Uju Onyekachi and Dr Nkwerem Geraldine, just to mention a few.

With the formal launch of these household products, which would be sold to the public in Owerri and its environs, the school did not just set the pace for other schools to emulate but made history as an institution that does not only impact academic knowledge to the students but further equips them with the requisite skills to think and act like entrepreneurs that would shape the economy of today and tomorrow.

At the grand finale, which held at the school arena, the students dramatically showcased different careers of life including the legal profession, medical practitioners, security personnel, engineers and so on. In attendance where many dignitaries led by the Vice Chancellor of Claretian University of Nigeria (CUN), Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Wence Madu CFM, the Director of the School, Rev. Fr. Ernest Offor, captains of industries and business leaders , parents of the students, and a host of others.
