Corruption Allegation: Atiku Fires Back, Asks NDLEA To Raid Tinubu’s Houses

A spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Senator Dino Melaye, on Saturday called on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to search the houses of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The call by Dino Melaye might not be unconnected to the recent onslaught by the APC led by Festus Keyamo. The Spokespersons of Tinubu Campaign had called on the anti-graft agencies to arrest Atiku for a revelation by a former aide to the PDP’s standard bearer Mr. Michael Achimugu.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) called gave 72 hours ultimatum to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to arrest, interrogate and prosecute Atiku for what it termed; offences against Code of Conduct for Public Officers, Offence of Money Laundering; Offence of criminal breach of trust and criminal misappropriation; and offence of conspiracy.

At the expiration of the 72 hours, Festus Keyamo has approached the court to compel the anti-graft agencies to arrest Atiku. But in an obvious retaliation, Melaye in a video posted on his known Twitter handle asked the anti-narcotic agency to also conduct a drug test on the former Lagos State governor.

“I am making a clarion call on General Buba Marwa, the Chairman of the NDLEA, to please, in the interest of this country, search the residence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to search for cannabis, cocaine, and other narcotic drugs,” Melaye said.

“Please, conduct a narcotic test on Bola Ahmed Tinubu, because for you to be president of this country, you must be drug-free, you must be mentally and physically fit. Bola Ahmed is not physically fit; he is not mentally fit. It will be dangerous for Nigerians to have a Pablo Escobar as president.”

He promised that the PDP will “follow up” its latest demand with an official petition, adding that his principal, Atiku, is open to the same scrutiny.
