Court Sacks Oshiomhole As National Chairman Of The APC

*Embattled Adams Oshiomhole

Information reaching our newsroom right now has it that a Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has ordered of interim injunction stopping former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole from parading himself as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), pending the determination of a suit.

Honourable Justice Danlami Senchi who gave the injunction earlier today (Wednesday March 4, 2020) held that political parties must be bound by their own constitution and having been suspended by his ward, Oshiomhole is henceforth restrained from parading and functioning as the National Chairman of the ruling party pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit. The judge therefore fixed April 7 and 8, 2020 as dates for the hearing of the matter.

In an ex-parte application filed by Mr Oluwole Afolayan on behalf of the National Vice Chairman, North East of the ruling APC, Mustapha Salihu, a factional Chairman of the APC in Edo State, Anselm Ojezua and others, is seeking a court-sanctioned removal of Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the party, from office. The Edo State Governor who succeeded Oshiomhole in office have been having series of running battles with the APC Chairman, over who controls the soul of the state’s political machinery.

Counsel to Oshiomhole and APC, Mr. Damian Dodo, SAN, in his earlier submission however noted that they had not been served and drew the Court’s attention to the Memorandum of Appearance and Undertaking to Accept Service of processes on behalf of the 1st & 2nd Defendants. But in his response, Justice Senchi stopped the move and ordered that the Defendants be put on notice to ensure a fair hearing in the matter.
