Enugu Guber: No Other Candidate Like Mbah, Says Prof. Nnaji

By Tony Adibe

A former gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Enugu State, Professor Jehu Onyekwere Nnaji has re-emphasised his appeal to the people of Enugu State to vote for competence, integrity and capacity, adding that Dr Peter Mbah of PDP remained the best candidate in the state.

NewsBits reports that Prof Nnaji’s assertion was made even as the Enugu electorate prepare for the upcoming governorship and state Assembly elections in the state. Addressing newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday, Prof. Nnaji advised the electorate to vote for individuals and not political party, maintaining optimistically that, if   elected as governor on March 11, this year   Mbah would replicate his success story of Pinnacle Oil in Enugu governance.

According to the Professor of International Law and Global Politics, the event of February 25, had clearly shown that Nigerians have gone beyond party politics. He said: “My advice to the electorate in Enugu is to look before you leap. They should not be swayed by those masquerading as wolves in sheep clothing, who jettisoned PDP to join other parties just to actualize their selfish ambitions

“My decision to support Dr Mbah for the position of governor was borne out of my conviction of his person and I am deeply hopeful that he will take Enugu to greater heights when he becomes governor of Enugu State.”

Asked his reaction to what critics of Mbah said concerning his manifesto being “bogus and unrealistic” in terms of implementation, Professor Nnaji said:  “A careful look at the manifesto of Dr  Mbah reveals a well-crafted philosophy of someone who wants to lead from day one.

“This manifesto is analogous to a compendium of the policy thrust of a government in power. This is so because the whole gamut of the manifesto sheds light on all strata of governance including but not limited to implementation, monitoring as well as compliance in all stratification.

“For the purpose of this discussion let me take us through a cursory vista of this policy document. In the first place our candidate is a firm believer of the duties and functions of government on discharging its obligations to the people since the primary responsibility of government is the welfare of its citizens. “He has promised to handle insecurity head on. With regard to the statement of purpose of our candidate’s manifesto which states inter alia ‘Building a Peaceful, Secure, Highly Developed and Prosperous State for All’, we can see that the  statement is premised on the backdrop of the catch phrase of our flag bear , “Tomorrow is Here”.
