Not less than four hundred youths have being trained by the Enugu SME Center in Auto Revamp through its programme, “Auto Revamp Innovative Training.”

NewsBits learnt that the trainees – 340 males and 60 females – spread in various batches, after completing the 6-month training, received their certificates of completion. The Enugu State SME Centre organised the training in partnership with Autoease Limited, while the trainees have completed the 6-month programme and have been issued their certificates.

The Special Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on SMEs Development and Director General, Enugu SME Centre, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, said the training is very unique as the certified Trainees have the opportunity of working with Autoease Limited.

The DG Enugu SME Centre expressed satisfaction that after “months of hard work, dedication, and passion, they have successfully completed this intensive program.” He noted that the training “has equipped them with the skills and knowledge needed to become leaders in the automobile industry.”

“Throughout this program, our graduates have undergone rigorous training in various areas, including electrical systems, automotive engineering, and design. They have worked on a wide range of vehicles, from classic cars to modern models, learning how to diagnose and fix complex issues, as well as how to enhance performance and functionality,” Chilo-Ofiah said.

He further said: “this program has been much more than just a technical training. Our graduates have also developed valuable soft skills, such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership, which are essential in any professional setting. They have also learned the importance of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction, which are at the core of our industry.”

He also acknowledged the support and guidance of the trainers and the entire management of Autoease Limited, while expressing confidence that their graduates will make a positive impact in the automobile industry and the communities they serve.

One of the beneficiaries, Johnson Godwill Uchenna from Awgu in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, said the training is a dream come true as he has always had interest in Auto Fabrication but did not have the means to pursue his dream. Uchenna said: “After the training, I was retained by Auto Ease to work on probation hoping to establish my own Auto Fabrication Firm.”

He thanked the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Special Adviser to the Governor and DG Enugu SME Centre, Chilo-Offiah for providing the opportunity for youths like him to gain skills, and the Management of Auto Ease for giving out their best during the Training.

Another beneficiary, Joy Chilota, said the training demystified the myth that Auto Fabrication is for the men and that’s why she’s now a certified fabricator. Going down memory lane, she said: “Training with Auto Ease started on 12th Oct 2022 with Introduction to parts of vehicle and tools involved in working the vehicles. The coaches taught us Paneling to washing and finally painting of cars.

“We had wonderful coaches that did not only train us but made sure we perfect all that has been taught. We graduated from the training on the 13th of April 2023, not only did I learn and enjoy the training; I also graduated as the best female graduating student.”
