Ex-Enugu APC Chairman, Nwoye Faults Suspension Of Federal Character Commissioner, Ginika Tor, Says It Is Illegal And Unconstitutional

A former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Enugu State Chapter, Dr Ben Nwoye has picked holes in the ratification of the suspension of the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State in the Federal Character Commission, Ginika Tor, insisting that it is illegal and unconstitutional.

Dr Nwoye, who addressed journalists in Enugu on Wednesday, said the process of the suspension of Tor by the Enugu State Chapter of APC and its subsequent ratification by the Southeast Zonal leadership was not duly followed. He advised the leadership of the party in the state to desist from such acts capable of destroying the party.

“Instead of engaging in incessant suspension of old members, the party should put machineries in motion on how to receive new members into its fold,” he said.

Nwoye, a former Federal Commissioner faulted alarming rate of suspension of members of the party in the state and advised the Ugochukwu Agballah-led leadership to refrain from such acts and organise rallies to welcome people into the party instead of incessant announcement of the suspension of stalwarts of the party.

He recalled how the Agballah-led executive had announced the purported suspension of former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, ex governor Sullivan Chime, former speaker, Eugene Odoh, Former Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, among others in the past and the recent purported suspension of Tor.

Nwoye called on President Tinubu and national leadership of the party to beam its searchlight on the Enugu State Chapter of the party with a view to putting a stop to the unconstitutional activities of the state and the zonal chapter of the party.

NewsBits recalls that the APC Southeast Zone had in a statement personally signed by the Southeast Deputy Vice Chairman, Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu on Tuesday announced the ratification of the suspension Tor by the Enugu State APC. However, Nwoye described the action of the Enugu and Southeast APC as unconstitutional, and rediculous, stressing that Tor as a member of the party can only be suspended by her political ward.

He urged them to make out time and study the constitution of the party so that they will be guided in their action, saying the incessant suspension is becoming embarrassing to the party.

The former APC chairman in Enugu State noted that he was not aware that Tor was suspended by her ward neither was he aware of any appeal at the local government level that led to the suspension by the state executive of the party.

Nwoye further advised the Southeast National Vice chairman of the party Dr. Arodiogbu to refrain from actions capable of tarnishing his image even outside the political circle. He insisted that the frequent visits of Arodiogbu to Enugu to suspend people who supported the emergence of President Bola Tinubu as APC presidential candidate had done more harm than good to the party.
