National President of the Federal Government College Warri Old Students Association (FEGOCOWOSA), Mrs. Maureen Akpofure-Awobokun has commended the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA), President-General (PG), Mr. Lawrence Wilbert for his tireless efforts at providing stable leadership and proactive direction to strengthen the association and positively impact on the Federal Unity Schools.

Mrs. Akpofure Awobokun who stated this during a courtesy visit to the USOSA President-General called for a stronger partnership between FEGOCOWOSA and USOSA in the pursuit of successfully ensuring that all Federal Unity Schools are properly managed and provided with the necessary infrastructure and amenities for imparting quality education. She informed the President General that the newly elected FEGOCOWOSA executive will continue to deepen engagements amongst relevant stakeholders as a strategy to repositioning and elevating the school to its former pinnacle of excellence.

She restated her commitment to the growth of the association and the welfare and well-being of members, adding that it was important for FEGOCOWOSA and the larger body, USOSA, to build a working network that would be beneficially uplifting to the alumni. On the improvement of the standard of education in unity schools, she stated that it was necessary to work on fashioning out ways to impact and improve on the quality of teachers and to also engage with the relevant bodies to improve on the curriculum, which she said, was out of touch with international standardization of 21st century learning.

Wilbert while receiving the FEGOCOWOSA National President and her team, congratulated her and her new executive on their successful election, stating that he firmly believed that her tenure would bring sustained progress to the alumni and the school. He said USOSA is undertaking coordinated moves to monitor budgets in schools, provide mentorship for greater learning, deeper involvement at the local level, create visibility around capital projects and ensure participatory leadership at educational summits, stakeholder engagements and other programmes for the growth and development of the Federal Unity Schools. He pledged to continue to provide an all-encompassing leadership in critical decisions affecting the Schools.
