Fraud: Court Orders The Arrest Of Nnamani, Former Enugu Governor

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has issued a bench warrant against a former governor of Enugu State, Mr. Chimaroke Nnamani, who was charged with an alleged fraud of N5.3bn.

Justice Chuka Obiozor, we gathered issued the bench warrant against the ex-governor for failing to appear in court on Monday (today December 4, 2017) for his scheduled re-arraignment. The judge held that Nnamani’s counsel failed to give a tenable reason why his client was absent from court.

Nnamani governed Enugu State with iron fist during his days as governor and was somewhat above the law. Popularly called the Ebeano governor, Nnamani made sure he drove away all the political heavyweights in the state, which gave him the latitude to carry on without check. To say the least, he used members of the state House as house boys and wet rags.
