Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has said it is impossible to rig today’s presidential and National Assembly election by desperate politicians in the state

Governor Umahi said this while exchanging views with newsmen shortly after he voted at his Onu Ofokuru polling Unit, Umunaga, Uburu, in the Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for conducting a peaceful, fair and credible election in the state, adding that there are adequate security operatives to protect lives and properties. He described the election as the most hitch-free and peaceful election ever conducted by INEC in Nigeria.

“For me, INEC has done a wonderful job and the security agencies in Ebonyi state have as well done a great job. The assessment is that INEC has perfected a good process and rigging will be very impossible,” he emphasised.

He further said: “I wish to commend the security operatives very highly. We have minimal infractions but I have been asking them not to relent, because evil people may want to strike at the end of the voting.”

“Many want to carry ballot papers before the counting, and I have directed that in Ebonyi State, no vehicle or Keke is allowed to move too close to the voting area within 100 meters,” he added.

“According to him, the election in Ebonyi State is peaceful and the votes will count. Ebonyi will be an example for other states.”
