GO-UNI Promises To Partner With Young Inventors in Nigeria

The management of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu has assured that it will continue to partner with and encourage young entrepreneurs to create employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the country. Also, the partnership is equally to promote initiatives and inventions in technologies.

A statement by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr. Godwin Umeh stated that the Vice Chancellor of the university, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke disclosed this while receiving a young inventor and Chief Executive Officer of Xavier Technologies, Computer Engineer Ugonna Bryan Odenigwe, who paid a visit to the university.

According to Professor Anieke, the management of GO-UNI has approved the request by the inventor to organize an exhibition and sensitization programme on his products and the importance of information technologies in modern society.

The Vice Chancellor stated that the exhibition would take place on the 7th of July this year at Justice Cordelia Chukwurah Convocation Arena, Thinkers Corner campus of the university. He explained that the leadership and officials of other tertiary institutions would be invited to witness and acquire more knowledge on technological development during the exhibition.

Professor Anieke commended computer engineer Ugonna Bryan Odenigwe for his ingenuity and desire to contribute positively to technological development in Nigeria.

Earlier, Engineer Odenigwe said the computer he invented has been modified to have provision for sim cards for all telecommunication networks in Nigeria, thereby eliminating the reliance on external sim cards or Wi-Fi for internet services, adding: “The new computer is reliable and faster in processing and other activities.”

In her remark, the mother of the inventor and one of the contestants for the senatorial seats in Enugu State, Princess Adaku Ogbu Aguocha described Godfrey Okoye University as a wonderful institution with well organized activities.

Princess Adaku Ogbu Aguocha remarked that education is key that keeps the youths busy as well as equip them for future challenges and commended the Vice Chancellor and other members of the management for their efforts to fast-track the development of the university. She urged the youths to embrace Information and Communication Technology, stressing that “ICT is the future of the nation.”

Meanwhile, the executive of the Parents Forum of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu has assured of their commitment to always focus on the infrastructural development of the University.

The Chairman of the forum, Sir Eusebus Ofor, who announced this during a meeting of the executive of the forum, stressed that the organisation will also key into such areas as the provision of hostels, and other facilities that would fast-track the development of the institution. Sir Ofor lauded the Vice Chancellor for the plans to commence courses in Nursing and Medical Laboratory.

He noted with gratitude the latest ranking of the university as the best private university in the Southeast and south-south geopolitical zones, the 5th best among private universities and the 45th among all the federal, state, and privately-owned tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Sir Ofor, who described Professor Anieke as an innovator, urged the Vice Chancellor to sustain the achievements recorded by the university. He advised other parents to register their children in Godfrey Okoye University so that they would benefit from the quality and morally sound education offered in the institution.
