LP Withdraws Petition Against Fubara’s Election Victory

The Labour Party (LP) has officially withdrawn its petition challenging the election victory of Governor Sim Fubara, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 Rivers State poll.

The LP had previously contested Fubara’s win, presenting its case to the Appeal Court in Lagos. However, the court dismissed the petition, affirming Fubara’s electoral success under the PDP banner. In a recent development, Channels Television reported that LP’s gubernatorial candidate in the election, Beatrice Itubo, confirmed the party’s decision to drop the case.

Itubo further pledged her support for Governor Fubara’s administration to advance the progress of Rivers State. The move comes weeks after the Appeal Court affirmed Fubara’s victory, dismissing legal challenges from other parties, including the LP.

Governor Fubara, through his Twitter handle, expressed gratitude for the resolution, emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation among political entities for the betterment of Rivers State.
