Mesut Ozil Plays Down Talk Of Summer Exit And Insists Arsenal Is Home

Mesut Ozil spoke to Mailonline where he has played down the rumours linking him with a summer move away from Arsenal football club as he believes they are still ‘one of the best clubs in the world’. Arsene Wenger’s side currently find themselves well off the pace in the Premier League and in real danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years. A number of senior players, including Ozil and top scorer Alexis Sanchez, could leave at the end of the current campaign.

However, the Germany international, whose contract at the Emirates expires in 2018, insists he is happy with his life in London and has no intention of leaving this summer.
‘Arsenal belong as one of the best clubs in the world and London is a great place to be, a great city to live in,’ Ozil told Sky Sports.’ As I have always said in the past, I feel comfortable here. I am happy. ‘As I have said before, in the summer we will talk but right now Arsenal stands in front of any player and I respect that.

‘So after the season we will talk and then we will make a decision from there.’ Ozil has faced criticism this season for a series of lackluster performances but the former Real Madrid midfielder insists he has given his all in every game he plays. ‘The expectations are always high, which I guess is normally a positive, you could say,’ he said.

‘But I know what I can do and it does not affect me really. I have played for Real Madrid, I have played for Germany and I have had praise and criticism throughout my career and it has only made me stronger. ‘For me what is most important, as I have always said, is the manager’s opinion, because when it comes from him you know it’s the truth, be it positive or be it negative. ‘There are some people that like me and some people that do not, but I give no worth to those opinions, really. They can have them, but I know what I can do. My stats show that I do give my all and I give my best.’
