Nationwide COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria Now 7261, NCDC Reports

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) yesterday recorded 245 new cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID19) from across the country. According to the update on the centre’s Twitter handle as at 11:35p.m. on Friday May 22, 2020, the latest cases came from 21 states across the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

With that new addition, Nigeria now officially has 7261 reported cases of COVID-19 with 2007 patients discharged and 221 fatalities. The fast-increasing numbers are not unconnected with the fact that the virus has shifted to community spreading, which makes it extremely difficult to identify the carriers as well as those they have had contact with.
