Olufemi Adebanjo Retires Gracefully From AMCON

Olufemi Oluwasina Adebanjo, is a career banker with professional experience spanning over three decades across accounting, risk-based auditing, financial control, design, development and implementation of latest audit and control processes. He is also vast in the development of methodologies, manuals and policies that enable large financial corporates perform optimally.

Prior to joining Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) as Head, Finance and Budgeting Department in 2011 in the capacity of as an Assistant Vice President, Adebanjo served First Bank of Nigeria Plc, one of the leading Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria where he was Principal Manager (Internal Audit). While he was with First Bank, he led the team that were responsible for the auditing of the Head Office departments of the bank as well as its subsidiaries among other top assignments, all of which prepared him for the huge task at AMCON.

Adebanjo who is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) is a complete package of what a thorough-bred professional should be. He is knowledgeable, hardworking, proactive and an excellent leader of men and resources. All these characteristics, which he applied at his job at AMCON earned him accolades as well as promotion. In 2016 for instance, he was elevated to the enviable level of a Vice President 2, just as the Management of AMCON under the able leadership of Mr Ahmed Lawan Kuru redeployed him to head Corporate Audit and Inspection Department.

Again in 2018, Adebanjo was appointed the Ethics Officer for the entire corporation, a position he held and delivered on expectations till he retired meritoriously from the service of AMCON. Even though Thursday August 1, 2019, which coincided with his birthday was his last day as a staff of AMCON, Adebanjo who has a large bank of interpersonal relationship skills continued to work as if he just started work at AMCON. In him, we found one of the most dependable and detribalised Nigerians, a loving father, a dedicated husband, committed friend to all colleagues irrespective of their ethnicity or religious background.

Born on August 1, 1959 in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria, Adebanjo was trained at Yaba College of Technology and the Lagos Business School, Lagos. Mr Adebanjo who is happily married is also a young grandfather. He loves reading, traveling, singing and dancing.
