PDP Condemns President Tinubu’s Government For Non-Payment Of Dec Salaries

In a scathing critique, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has censured the government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its failure to disburse December salaries to federal workers.

The party contends that this omission underscores the administration’s alleged penchant for causing frustration and hardship among Nigerians. The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, conveyed these sentiments in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday.

He described the failure to fulfil such crucial obligations during the festive season as unacceptable and indicative of the Tinubu-led APC administration’s perceived insensitivity towards the welfare of citizens.

Ologunagba expressed concern that the non-payment of December salaries, particularly critical for workers and security operatives, aligns with what he perceives as the administration’s strategy of weaponizing poverty and suppressing the populace.

The PDP spokesperson criticised President Tinubu for what he termed prioritising lavish spending on political associates and international trips over the timely disbursement of salaries. Ologunagba contrasted this with the PDP’s track record, highlighting that during the party’s 16 years in government, workers received their December salaries before Christmas.

Emphasising the economic impact of recent policy decisions, Ologunagba demanded accountability from President Tinubu regarding the trillions of naira accrued from the removal of petroleum subsidies over the last seven months.

The PDP further called for transparency on various revenue streams outlined in the Federation Account Allocation Committee’s communiqué from its December 2023 meeting. In conclusion, the PDP insisted on the immediate payment of December salaries to workers, accompanied by an additional compensatory payment of at least 50% to alleviate the perceived economic hardships imposed by the APC administration.

The party underscored the importance of governance guided by constitutional principles and the rule of law rather than individual whims.
