Petrol Station, Fuel Tanker Razed In Enugu State

By NewsBits

An early evening fire has razed Hanscharis Petrol Station situated at Enugu-Abakaliki federal road by Emene Junction in Enugu State capital. The fire also razed a fuel tank with 13,000 premium motor spirit (PMS) otherwise known as fuel.

According to SaharaReporters, the fire ignited when the fuel tanker was discharging fuel to the underground tank, but no motorist was affected. A source told the newspaper that the tanker had barely discharged 2000 litres to the underground tank when the tanker caught fire. According to the source, efforts to extinguish the fire in-house failed, lamenting that fire service also came too late that nothing was left when they eventually arrived.

“The fire started around 4:00pm but the fire service arrived at the scene around 5:23pm despite being called immediately the fire started. They also came with almost an empty tank of water. Their excuse was that they had two other locations in Abakpa and New Haven where their men had gone to fight fire. However, they succeeded in ensuring that the fire did not enter another property.”
