Mrs. Aishah Ahmad is the pretty face President Muhammadu Buhari has sent to the Senate for confirmation as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Upon clearance by the Senate, Aishah would replace the former Deputy Governor of the apex lender, Dr. Sarah Alade, who officially retired earlier in the year (March) after 24 years of active service in the institution.
A statement by the special adviser media to the president, Femi Adesina, in accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the CBN (Establishment) Act 2007, President Buhari urged the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to consider the expeditious confirmation of Mrs Ahmad, who would then resume work immediately. Mrs. Aishah Ahmad, was the Chairperson, Executive Council, Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) and Head Consumer Banking at Diamond Bank.
An indigene of Niger State, Ahmad’s professional banking experience traverses the erstwhile NAL Bank Plc, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc. She is also a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Associations. Her educational achievements include: an MSc in Finance and Management at Cranfield School of Management, United Kingdom, an MBA (Master of Business Administration) in Finance at the University of Lagos; she also holds a graduate degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja. She was born on October 26, 1977.
Adesina also said the President has written the Senate, seeking the confirmation of appointment of members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the CBN. He said they are to replace four members, whose tenure expires at the end of this year. The nominees are: Professor Adeola Festus Adenikinju; Dr. Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi; Dr. Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Dr. Asheikh A. Maidugu.
