The human rights activist and social critic, Vincent Ezekwueme, has extolled the sterling and impeccable integrity of INEC returning officer for Abia State governorship election Prof. Nnenna Nnannaya Oti for standing for truth, justice and steadfastness by ensuring the safeguard and protection of the sacred mandate given to Alex Oti of Labour Party by the people of Abia state during the governorship and House of Assembly elections.
It will be recalled that the erudite scholar and Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology, Owerri resisted attempt by some rapacious politicians to subvert the sacred mandate given to Labour Party candidate, Alex Oti by the majority of the electorate. Ezekwueme, who is also the Chairman of Civil Liberties Organization in Anambra, described her as an agent for positive change, instrument for truth, justice, equity and rare gift to humanity.
“It is pertinent to note that electoral injustice is the foundation and harbinger of injustices, hence anyone fighting to eradicate it deserved to be appreciated and rewarded.
“I most heartily appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to bestow National Honour to Prof. Nnenna. It is of prime importance to note that her impeccable character is a beacon of hope to Nigerians, and it has restored peoples’ confidence in the electoral process.
“Rewards for excellent work is greater work, hence we recommend her for appointment as next chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, Ezekwueme said.
