Senate Presidency: Uzor Kalu Didn’t Contribute Much To Our Success- Former APC National Chairman

By NewsBits

The former acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hilliard Eta, has said that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu didn’t contribute much to the success of the party in the last election.

Kalu who represents Abia North Senatorial Zone in the red chamber is one of the contenders to lead the 10th Senate. Eta, who was commenting on the politics for the leadership of the 10th Assembly on AriseTv’s Morning Show, said the party’s decision was made in the best interest of the party.

“…I think the party has done its duty I do know that the president elect and the incoming ultimate leader of the party has a moral duty of helping fashion in route of peace, cohesion within the party by helping the party select the leadership of the national assembly.

Asked why Kalu who felt he would be considered for the position by the party was left out Hon. Eta opined: “I do not want us to go into personalities but if you want to go into personalities, I would like to tell you this Orji Uzor Kalu is eminently qualified to be the president of the Senate but even from outside of the party thing, I do know that Orji Uzor Kalu did not contribute much to the success of the party in this election.

In the past eight years we have had a party that doesn’t reward hard work and doesn’t reward loyalty. I think the president-elect and the new leadership of the party are beginning on a new slate. A fresh slate where people are rewarded for their hard work and their loyalty.”

NewsBits reports that hours after the National Working Committee of the APC announced Senator Godswill in as its preferred candidate for the Senate President of the 10th Senate, Kalu wrote letters to the members of the NWC and 108 Senators elect, notifying them of his interest to be the next Senate President.

Kalu in the letters he personally signed and addressed to each of the NWC Members and Senators-elect, said he is offering himself for the position of the Senate President with sincerity of heart, humility, and candour.
