Sevenfold Growth Of Enugu GDP Achievable With Private Sector Investments – Agbo, Enugu Commissioner

The planned sevenfold growth of the Enugu State gross domestic product (GDP) by the administration of Governor Mbah from the current $4.4 billion to $30 within the next four to eight years can only be achieved with government-enabled inflow of private sector investments.

The Enugu State Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication, Dr. Malachy Agbo, disclosed this while representing Governor Mbah at an Enugu Business Summit themed “Unveiling Your Inner Capacity,” organized by the Amadeo Initiatives at Amadeo Event Center, Enugu.

The commissioner expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to create the enablers that would propel the Enugu economy to the $30 billion target, stressing the importance of de-risking investment flow and provision of critical infrastructure to realising the objective.

Dr. Agbo louded the COPEN Group and the Amadeo Foundation for their combined efforts towards tackling poverty, saying it was in line with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision to eradicate poverty by 2031 in the state.

Commissioner Agbo called on other wealthy people in society to emulate Rev. Ugo Chime in offering assistance to the needy and more critically, building capacity among the teeming underprivileged youths to acquire skills and vocational trainings for their well-being.

Earlier in his welcome address, Rev. Ugo Chime thanked all those who took out time from their busy schedules to participate in the programme, both by physical and virtual attendance.

He explained how the seed of the Enugu Business Summit was sown he heard about the monumental life-impacting and transforming things Chief Gabriel Nwokike accomplished during his 70th birthday celebration in 2001, saying how he resolved back then to impact the lives of others through selfless service.

Others who made paper presentations at the occasion were the former Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, Dr. Nkemdilim Iheanachor, Professor Joy Ngozi Ezeilo, Dr. Samuel Maduka Onyishi, Dr. Emerie Agunwa and Dr Paul Ifeanyichukwu Adama.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of awards to personalities who had positively impacted other people in significant ways, amongst whom were Chief Innocent Chukwuma, Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, Professor Chinedu Nebo and others.
