Ahead of the all-important clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the senior team of Seychelles to book the ticket for AFCON, the Seychelles Football Federation has confirmed September 8, 2019 for their home game of the 2019 AFCON qualifier against the Super Eagles. The match has been fixed to kick off at 1.30pm Nigeria time.
The Secretary-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Football Federation, George Bibi in letter to the Nigeria Football Federation said the match will be played at the Stade Linite on the Mahe Island on Saturday September 8 as planned.
The Super Eagles player that have been invited for the game by the Coach of Nigeria, Mr. Gernot Rohr will assemble in France from where they catch a commercial airline to Victoria, the capital city of Seychelles an archipelago of 115 islands on the western Indian Ocean, off East Africa, and is home to about 100,000 people. Coach Gernot Rohr has already in Paris to wait for the players.
The Super Eagles need to win the game to be in the reckoning for the group E qualifiers topped by Libya after beating Seychelles 5-1, while Bafana Bafana of South Africa are second on the lot having beaten the Super Eagles 2-0 in Uyo. Last Friday, Rohr released a list of 24 players invited for the clash, with key players like skipper Mikel John Obi and Moses Simon missing due to injuries. Victor Moses was unavailable for selection as he recently announced his retirement from international football.
