A New Era Begins Amidst Controversy As Tinubu Is Sworn-In As Nigeria’s 16th President

Senatot Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has been sworn in as the 16th President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola administered the oath on the new President at exactly 10.38 am on Monday. Earlier, the CJN had sworn in Alhaji Kashim Stettima, GCON as Vice President.

Tinubu, a former Senator, and former Governor of Lagos State was declared winner of the February 25, 2023, in a controversial presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who opposition parties said connived with Tinubu’s party to rig election. The case challenging Tinubu’s presidency is still ongoing in court even as the swearing in ceremony held.

The media reports that over 20 heads of state and prominent world leaders witnessed the colourful ceremony held at the Eagles Square, Abuja.

Meanwhile the former President Muhammadu Buhari has just arrived and about departing Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on his way to Katsina after handing over to President Bola Tinubu even as the handover ceremony is still ongoing at Eagles Square Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
