The Super Eagles of Nigeria’s will this evening battle Angola as both teams fight to earn a semi finals ticket at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
To reach this stage, Nigeria defeated Cameroon 2-0 in the round of 16 on Saturday to reach the quarter finals, while Angola thrashed Namibia 3-0 earlier in front of 28,663 fans at the Stade de la Paix. Today, over 200million Nigerian at home and in the diaspora will be praying for their beloved country to overcome Angola who themselves have played outstanding football both at the group stage and the round of 16.
The match will hold at the Felix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, and signals Nigeria’s quest for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations trophy which they last won in 2013. The second quarter finals match will also hold today between Democratic Republic of Congo, and Guinea.
On Saturday, February 3, the host nation Cote d’Ivoire, will face Mali while Cape Verde and South Africa play the last quarter final match.
