Latest reports reaching us from Edo State has it that Governor Godwin Obaseki who recently dumped the All Progressive Congress (APC) to join Nigeria main political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the governorship primaries on the platform of the party. He polled over 1,500 votes to emerge victorious.

There were strong indications he was going to win following widespread consultation with PDP governors and as a very organized party, leading PDP aspirants even before Obaseki joined including Mr. Kenneth Imansuangbon, stepped down from the governorship race in favour of Governor Godwin Obaseki He attributed his reason for his action to his desire to build a strong and united party in the state.

With his emergence as PDP flag bearer in the forthcoming September elections in Edo State, which pundit say he would win, Obaseki if victorious at the elections where he would face Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyam of the APC would have thought other politicians how to shake off political godfathers like Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who was instrumental to his dumping the APC for the PDP.
