Governor Peter Mbah Inaugurates ENSIEC Chairman, Members

Enugu State governor, Dr Peter Mbah says his administration will not waver in its determination to strengthen the local government system for efficient and quality service delivery.

He made the assertion in his office on Thursday during the official inauguration of the newly appointed members of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC.

Our government house correspondent Fred Nnaji reports that the exercise followed the recent screening of the chairman and other members of the ENSIEC by the State House of Assembly on Monday April 15,2024.

Prof Christian Chimdubem Ngwu was inaugurated as the ENSIEC chairman, alongside the members, Mr. Solomon Ude; Hon Emeka Ukwuaba; Chinenyenwa Anthonia Ugwu, Barr. George Obiora, Mr Ifeanyi Arthur Ede and Barr. Paulinus Eze.

The governor while reminding them that they are charged with the responsibility to ensure that the rules and procedures governing the elections of the local government councils and councillors are conducted free, fair and credible, said the people of the state will be expecting the unbiased approach to the electoral guidelines without fear or favour.

Speaking on behalf of other ENSIEC members, the chairman, Prof Ngwu who before his appointment by the Governor was a professor of Mass Communication with the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Enugu, promised to discharge their duties creditably by ensuring that the rules of engagement are strictly adhered to in the conduct of free and credible polls among other duties.

Prof. Ngwu vowed to make Ndi Enugu happy by ensuring that all the political parties in the state are carried along in the scheme of things as well as equal opportunities to exercise their constitutional obligations during the election periods.

Also, the traditional ruler of Mbulu-Owo autonomous community, Igwe Godwin Arum who reminded the ENSIEC chairman of his roles as a father of all the political parties in Enugu, charged him and his members to leave a legacy that should be sustained by their successors.
