Reports reaching us from Lagos State has it that fire outbreak has gutted some sections of the popular Apongbon Market, at the Ebute Ero area of Lagos. The location is notorious for heavy human and vehicular traffic on a daily basis. Despite the efforts of Lagos State officials to organize the market, traders in the area usually display their wares on major roads and streets of Apongbon thus making it difficult for movement of human and vehicles.
The fire, which was reported to have started at about 10:45hours on Sunday quickly spread to other shops aided by consumables and the wind. However, the Lagos State Fire Service assisted by other emergency response agencies and the police are at the scene to salvage the situation at the time of filing this report.
