Governor Dave Umahi Disolves Boards, Commissions, Development Centres

In less than 24 hours after the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in Ebonyi State, the Governor, David Umahi, has dissolved over one hundred Boards and Commissions in the state.

A statement issued and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki the state capital by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kenneth Ugbala, indicates that 64 coordinators of Development Centres in the state were also affected by the dissolution.

It was gathered that the dissolution became necessary, following perceived poor performance of the affected officials, during the governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.

According to the statement, “the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Nweze Umahi, has approved immediate dissolution of Boards, Commissions, and Development Centre Coordinators, except Ebonyi State University Governing Council.”

Governor Umahi, therefore, tasked the affected officials to hand over all government property in their possession, including their official vehicles, to the office of the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, on or before the close of tomorrow.

Umahi further said his government will constitute a transition committee that would advise the state government whether to reconstitute the Boards, Commissions and Development Coordinators, or leave it for the incoming administration.

He promised that members of the Boards, Commissions and Development Centre Coordinators who served well in their various offices would be accommodated when the affected institutions of government would be reconstituted.
