Inter-Agency Committee On Recovery Of AMCON Debt Meets

The Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Prof. Professor Bolaji Owasanoye SAN (right), and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), Mr Ahmed Lawan Kuru at a recent meeting of the Inter-Agency Committee on the Recovery of AMCON debt. The committee set up by the Federal Government is also chaired by Prof. Owasanoye.

Recently, the Inter-Agency Committee on the Recovery of AMCON debt set up by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to speedily resolve the challenges in recovering over N5 trillion Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) debt met recently in continuation of their national assignment. The meeting held at the corporate head office of AMCON in Abuja.

The Committee is made up of: Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Federal Ministry of Justice and the Department of State Security (DSS). Jude Nwauzor, Head, Corporate Communications Department at AMCON who would not disclose the full details of the meeting however told our correspondent that the meeting sat to continue deliberation regarding the national assignment that it was set up to do. It would be recalled that the VP set up the committee in September 2019 to support AMCON in dealing with a huge number of recalcitrant obligors in its book
