Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran popularly known as JANDOR by friends and associates has congratulated the winner of the governorship election held yesterday in Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke.

Adeleke, the candidate of the PDP in the early hours of Sunday July 17, 2022, emerged as the winner of the Osun State governorship election with a defeat of the incumbent governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Adediran’s good will message was contained in a statement issued by Gbenga Ogunleye, Head, Media & Communications, JANDOR ’23 Campaign Organization.

With the victory, the PDP has claimed just another state within the Southwest touted to be under the stronghold of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is also the presidential candidate of the APC for next year’s presidential elections in the country. But Tinubu has also decided to ignore the feelings across Nigeria to drop his infamous idea of a Muslim-Muslim ticket. But that is the story of another day as Nigerians have boldly risen against the ruling party with the way they voted in Osun at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Adeleke scored 403,371 votes to emerge winner over his closest rival, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 375,027 votes. Recall that the election that brought Oyetola to office was also a two-horse race between him and Adeleke. Four years ago after that election, Adeleke alleged that he won the election, but was muscled out by the ruling party who them has Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as incumbent governor. Adeleke had appealed to his supporters to remain calm as he would come back again at the end of the four years of Oyetola.

JANDOR also commended the good people of Osun for turning out en-masse to exercise their franchise and for their refusal to be lured to sell their votes. He said that the victory is a reassurance that the will of the people cannot be suppressed when they stand together against bad leadership. JANDOR also enjoin Lagosians to take a cue from the people of Osun in the quest to rescue Lagos from the 23 years of misrule of the ruling party. “The wind of change in Osun State is a reassurance that the breath of fresh air is imminent in Lagos State”, he said.
