The new Arsenal manager, Mr. Unai Emery has said is ready to hand summer signing Lucas Torreira his first start for the club this week when Arsenal play their first game in the Europa League. Torreira arrived at the Emirates Stadium in a deal worth £26.4million. Since he arrived, he is yet to make a single start for the club, but has made five substitute appearances.
Torreira’s inclusion in the game against Newcastle changed the game following his substitution at half-time, playing an influential role in the victory. And Emery said he is ready to give the Uruguay international his full Arsenal debut this week after being fully convinced of the midfielder’s worth.
Arsenal open their Europa League campaign against Vorskla Poltava on Thursday before hosting Everton in the Premier League three days later. And Torreira is in line to make his first start for his new club in the next seven days after impressing Emery with his displays from the bench. Emery will make a number of changes for Thursday’s European clash with goalkeeper Bernd Leno set to make his first appearance for the club since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. Danny Welbeck and Stephan Lichtsteiner are also pushing for starts against the Ukrainian side.
