NDE Trains 30 Enugu Youths On Environmental Beautification

The Special Public Works (SPW), Department of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Friday, commenced a 3-month training of 30 youths in Enugu State on environmental beautification. The programme is tagged, “Environmental Beautification Training Scheme, EBTS.”

NewsBits learnt that the lucky participants for the scheme will be trained on Floor Tiling, POP, Flower Gardening, Hard Landscaping, and Interlocking.

Speaking at the orientation ceremony for the commencement of the programme at NDE office in Enugu, the Director General, DG, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, represented by the Enugu State NDE acting coordinator, Mr. Eugene Agu, said that the scheme was initiated not only to combat unemployment but to encourage wealth creation and reduce poverty among the citizenry.

Mallam Fikpo noted that when trained, the participants will be empowered to fend for themselves and their families, thereby reducing the number of the teeming unemployed in the state and country. He therefore urged the participants to take the training serious because of the benefits accruing to it.

“I want to urge you, participants to take this training exercise very serious as there are many of your colleagues who would want to be part of this training but could not be accommodated.  So, you should count yourselves lucky to be included in this batch of participants,” he said.

The DG said that NDE would be monitoring their progress to see that they are at their training locations, pointing out that they should be NDE ambassadors by behaving themselves at their training centres.

He said: “We are sending you out as ambassadors of NDE.  Do not misbehave, do not steal or damage your trainers’ tool.  Do not fight.  Represent us well when you get to your training centre.”
