As the wind of 2023 electioneering is blowing across Nigeria’s political space, the Director-General of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dr Doyin Okupe has said the Obidient Movement, which currently drives the Presidential race of the Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi transcends ethnicity, and religious bias.

Okupe said this in his opening remarks at a Pre-Campaign Press conference, in Abuja. He explained that if Presidential candidates were to be pre-qualified, both the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would have since been disqualified.

Okupe predicted that PDP’s internal crisis will continue to fester because its candidate, Atiku Abubakar emerged after “a skewed party primary,” which jettisoned the time-tested respect for zoning and rotation of power as enshrined in its very constitution.

He stressed that for the APC, the party shot itself on the foot with its unjustifiable and indefensible Muslim-Muslim ticket, which is a clear indication that the party lacks respect for Nigeria’s religious diversity.

NewsBits recalls that many notable Nigerians from both northern, and southern sections of the country have condemned the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket, saying it does not augur well for the present Nigeria unlike in 1993 Presidential election when Chief MKO Abiola chose Alhaji Babagana Kingibe as his running mate on the planform of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the electorate voted for the party massively.
