PDP’s Unfounded Allegation Of Politics Of Billboard Destruction In Osun

Mr Gboyega Oyetola, the Osun State governor

By Kola Olabisi

There is nothing untoward that a gateman will not witness at his duty post.  It is a misnomer that politics indeed allows all manner of people to speculate and conjure unfounded allegations and accusations in order to curry unmerited and undeserved popularity and acceptability just like it has been the latest situation with the Pathfinder faction of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the flagrantly compromised caretaker chairmanship of one Dr Akindele Adekunle who, in a watery and pedestrian statement about two days ago, unjustifiably and needlessly accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of allegedly masterminding the destruction of Senator Ademola Adeleke Campaign billboards in Osogbo and other parts of the state.

What a cheap allegation cooked up by a leprous colony of frustrated and rejected politicians who are employing a moribund and archaic political stratagem to drive their campaign in order to be in the news for wrong reasons?   The controversial Osun PDP caretaker chairman should know that such political antics to dubiously whip up sentiment for acceptability is obsolete in this age and it has been consigned to the dustbin of history.

I understand the plight of Dr Adekunle that he must resort to any means to sell his obviously unmarketable factional governorship candidate, Senator Jackson Nurudeen Ifeanyi Ademola Adeleke, whose only mastery of dancing has been his landmark achievement since he was launched into this world over six decades ago.

One needs not be a soothsayer to know that it was the penchant to satisfy, convince and dazzle the billionaire financier of the apparently-difficult-to-sell governorship candidate, among other reasons, that necessitated the cooking up of the billboard destruction allegation against  the ever-focused and workaholic administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, which has been dishing out in quantum, qualitative governance to the peace-loving people of the state. A golden advice for Dr Adekunle and his cohorts is to go back to their drawing board and come up with an acceptable and modern ways of campaigning without necessarily exposing their abysmal ignorance.

The controversial Osun PDP caretaker chairman should feel free to approach the financier of the campaign of his factional candidate if desirable rather than using the self-destruction of billboards for negative effect.

The Osun State caretaker chairman of the PDP who has been battling with the crisis of identity of his membership of the PDP in the Ondo State chapter of the party where he professes to have hailed from should disclose the authentication of the allegation by stating his ward and unit in the Sunshine State. The hatchet job that Dr Adekunle was handpicked to execute in Osun State by his financier should be limited to his Peoples Destroy Peoples party in order for him to resist the encountering of maggots in the salt!

Come to think of it, the allegation of the billboard destruction by the Adeleke handlers does not add up!  Why would governor Oyetola contemplate or engage in violence before he could successfully make his way for his re-election?  Oyetola is a man of peace, and he abhors violence like a plague.

Moreso, Jackson Ademola who is an apparently unpopular, and controversial candidate of the PDP in Osun is not a threat to the re-election project of governor Oyetola who has been dazzling the people of the state with superlative developmental projects that are evenly spread across the state.  It’s only those who are living outside the state that may not have an ample opportunity to know that deceit is the major tool of the Senator Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organization.

Perhaps, what has emboldened the resolve of the so-called handlers of the PDP was the attack their thugs inflicted at Gbongan, in Aiyedaade Local Government Council Area of the state, on the APC supporters shortly after Governor Oyetola had successfully ended a campaign tour of the area about two weeks ago.

Senator Jackson Adeleke should know that the APC will not relent in using legality to deal with any individual or corporate body whose resolve is to turn the peaceful state into a theatre of war all in the name of playing divisive partisan politics.

It’s all the proverbial grasscutters that prefer to be called and tagged themselves juicy ones! It’s funny that the Pathfinder faction of the Osun Peoples Destructive Party under the cognomen, ‘Rescue Mission’, with its infinitesimal number of memberships is threatening to mobilize the people of the state against the APC sitting government.

Such a threat by the factional PDP chapter is an empty boast, which can neither sit nor fly as it’s an impossibility for a tail to wag the dog!  The mere ranting of the Osun PDP over the billboard destruction is baseless and an attention-seeking device resorted to by the embattled opposition party as a result of phobia and pre-admission of imminent defeat of the embattled Candidate Adeleke in the July 16, 2022, governorship election.

Like I said earlier on, the now factionalised Osun PDP is not and can never be a threat to the workaholic administration of Governor Oyetola as the party was roundly defeated when it was a one united family. How much less now that there are about five factions in the said Osun State PDP?

It is pertinent to impress it on the Osun State PDP that the house rats should tell their counterparts in the bush that neither the government nor the ruling party in the state would allow some disgruntled elements, all in the name of playing opposition politics, to promote any violent and anarchic phenomenon in the state. The statutory security authorities should be extra vigilant in order to nip in the bud any of such inhuman contemplation in the interest of continuous development of our state under the administration of Governor Oyetola. Simplicita!
